I found out about a new thing the other day. Well, I mean, I am always learning new things \u2013 that\u2019s why we go to school, but I did not learn about this at school.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s something called crowdfunding.<\/p>\n

Huh! I hear you say. What on earth is that?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s when lots of people give a little bit of money so that a large amount can be raised so that something can happen. Like an event\u2026 or producing a music DVD, or publishing a book.<\/p>\n

I thought it was quite a cool idea.<\/p>\n

Say you want to do something \u2013 for instance my friend Ginny wants to bring out a Sibo (yes \u2013 yay \u2013 that\u2019s me) book on Road Safety \u2013 \u201cSibo Looks Left\u201d will be the title. But because times are tough and the schooling system is interesting, it is no longer feasible for publishers to just publish books willy-nilly anymore.<\/p>\n

With crowdfunding, you put a sort of advert on the internet for your project. There are various different service providers who provide platforms for these adverts, and you have to pass certain criteria. They don\u2019t just accept any project.<\/p>\n

Basically you offer rewards for support (the support comes in the form of cash). For instance, in our case if you pledge R50 towards the book \u2013 you will receive a digi-book and get your name printed in the book as a supporter. There are other rewards too \u2013 like if you pledge more money you could have your company\u2019s logo on the inside front cover\u2026 or\u2026 you could even have one of Sibo\u2019s friends in the story with your child\u2019s name. Cool hey!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a fact \u2013 far too many kids get killed on the roads for stupid reasons.\u00a0 Maybe this book will help a little bit. Gently inform kids (and their parents) about the rules of the road.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s the most important bit \u2013 you will know that you have helped in the process of getting books given to children who can\u2019t afford to buy them themselves.<\/p>\n

They will get a free book which they can read over and over.<\/p>\n

Yoh! I can\u2019t bear to think that some people don\u2019t even own one single book. That\u2019s just terrible. But it\u2019s even worse to think that somebody might get hurt or killed just because they did not realise what they were doing on the road was dangerous.<\/p>\n
