Last\nSaturday, my friend Ginny had her cellular phone stolen, right out from under\nher nose! Well, not quite, but close\u2013out of her handbag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She and her\nhusband were shopping and they were in the fruit section of a local supermarket.\nShe noticed that some women were talking loudly, pointing at those little bags\nof herbs. She thought that they were probably having a heated discussion about\nwhat was needed for a certain recipe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next\nthing she knew was that another woman had rammed a trolley into her, pushing\nher into the veggie rack. She was wedged between the trolley and the rack and\nher bag was squished behind her shoulder. Ginny stood there, half expecting an\napology, but at least expecting the lady to move the trolley off her foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But instead,\nthe woman pointed to some bags of onions on the veggie rack and asked if Ginny\nwould pass her some.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She picked up\nthe one bag, but the person shook her head and pointed at another one. So Ginny\npassed her one of those. She asked for another one too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then she\nbarely thanked her and moved off down the aisle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whole\nthing was a little weird and Ginny wandered around for a few minutes, thinking\nabout it and then put it aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on, she\nlooked down and saw that the side pocket on her bag was open and her cell phone\nwas missing. Of course, she wasn\u2019t too sure if she\u2019d actually picked it up off\nher desk that morning and put it in her bag in the first place. Her husband\ncalled the number and it went immediately to voice mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her stomach\nsank\u2014she knew it had been stolen. It had a full battery and there was no reason\nfor it not to ring first. But they went home anyway, to check. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the way\nshe was racking her brains as to who could have had the opportunity to sneak\nup, unzip the pocket and take her phone out. Then she remembered the crazy\nincident in the veggie department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her phone was\nnot at home.  They schlepped back to the\nsupermarket and reported the incident. Turned out, upon viewing the video\nfootage, some women had followed them into the shop; probably others did\nsomething to distract the security guard (who was right there). Whilst Ginny\nwas helping the one lady, the other lady helped herself to Ginny\u2019s phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a jungle\nout there folks. Be alert!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
