For example, Mpho is really smart \u2013 she passed all her exams.<\/p>\n<p>It could also mean that a person is well-dressed. For example, Mpho looked really smart in her new outfit.<\/p>\n<p>Another meaning is to feel a sharp, stinging pain. For example, Mpho\u2019s arm smarted for ages after the wasp stung her.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, it can mean that you feel annoyed or resentful after being insulted. For example, Mpho smarted for the whole of break time after Sandile said she was fat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We are talking about the first one\u2026 <\/strong>here are some ways to help make us smarter.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ask questions.<\/strong> It really is good to ask if we don\u2019t know or understand something.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get some exercise.<\/strong> This is a no-brainer \u2013 we know we feel better when we get out into the fresh air and start moving. Cycle, jog, walk briskly, hula hoop\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eat healthy.<\/strong> Crunch apples and carrots instead of chips or sweets for snacks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep a journal.<\/strong> It\u2019s good to sit at the end of the day and reflect on all that has happened. It makes your memory work a bit harder too.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Learn a new skill<\/strong>. It does not have to be anything fancy \u2013 learn to knit, to code, or maybe how to bake \u2013 go nuts and try something new. Nothing ventured nothing gained!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hang out with other smart people<\/strong>. This is so true \u2013 if we spend time with people who are interesting and interested \u2013 we feel smarter too.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Challenge your brain.<\/strong> Do crossword puzzles or Sudoku\u2019s. Play memory games.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Change your routine.<\/strong> Try not to do things the same old boring way every single day \u2013 vary the order in which you do things, or eat lunch outside instead of inside. Sit in a different spot at school break. As the saying goes\u2026 a change is as good as a holiday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get enough sleep.<\/strong> Do it! Go to sleep at a decent hour our bodies need time to recover from a busy day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Read more. <\/strong>Join a library or swap books with friends.
